Join us Saturday, January 7, 2023 at 3:00 pm for an intimate afternoon of poetry with Mitchell L. H. Douglas and Michael Kaufmann as part of Fair Market _ 2022, a gathering of artists and objects around the idea of Holding On, a maintenance phase, a longing, clinging to, uncertainty, vulnerability, a resolve, an embrace.
Event is open to the public with no RSVP. The gallery will hold open hours the day of the reading from 12:00 - 5:00 pm.
Mitchell L. H. Douglas
Poet and visual artist Mitchell L. H. Douglas is the author of dying in the scarecrow’s arms, \blak\ \al-fə bet\, and Cooling Board: A Long-Playing Poem. He will likely read from his last collection, dying in the scarecrow's arms, and a collection of new poems he is currently wrapping up. A 2021 National Endowment for the Arts Creative Writing Fellow, he is Associate Professor of English at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
Michael Kaufmann
Michael Kaufmann has written on the intersection of disability and punk, penned strong critiques of public art and our cultural institutions, and freestyled a novella about a time traveling Aztec rapper. He will be reading from his two collections of poems, The Long Chorus and Cowboy Psalms and Fat Haikus.
